You may choose ONE of the following projects to count as your final exam/project. All projects are due by Tuesday, June 12, 2012.
1. Ready or Not Tot Project- Tots will not be distributed unless the student has returned the contract signed and has provided a 9 volt battery. You will care for the tot for 24 hours and must complete the packet.
2. Epiquery Project- For this project you will be completing a packet about your community’s health profile compared to the rest of Staten Island and New York City.
3. Powerpoint presentation: Choose one of topics below and create a short (4-6 slides) Powerpoint presentation that displays the most important information regarding that topic. Powerpoint must have visuals and facts. You can email me your powerpoint at waltershealthprhs@gmail.com or place it in the Student Dropbox (Mrs. Walters Final Projects).
4. Health Topics Poster Campaign/Public Service Announcement: Create a poster that visually portrays an important message that you have learned from this class. Your poster must be creative and colorful. It must send a clear and strong message. Examples: anti-smoking, abstinence, don’t drink and drive, anti- dating violence, anti-bullying, etc. The poster must be orginal (not copied from another source) and must have a slogan. On the back of the poster include a paragraph that explains your poster and what you have learned about the topic. Poster must be on a 8 ½ x 11 piece of paper.
5. Letter: Write a persuasive letter to the school administration and/or a local politician about the importance of providing Health Education to high school students during their sophomore or junior year (instead of waiting until their senior year). To make your argument convincing, you must provide specific details about what you learned, your personal experience in the class, and other research and facts about adolescents and health (using the Youth Risk Behavior Survey results at www.cdc.gov or www.nyc.gov/heatlh will help you with getting facts).
